The daggers and hatchets and scalpels and other assorted sharp implements come out this week, as it's time for El'Ahrai and John to give you their Top 5 Worst Movies of 2011!  The savagery here displayed toward "Dolphin Tale" will chill your soul.  Plus!  Reviews of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo", "Mission: Impossible--Ghost Protocol", and "Apollo 18"!  Satan is simply the warden of a very large prison.  Quiet man actually, thoughtful and he's well read.  And I happen to know the idea of sacrificing children in his honor annoys him greatly.

The captain has turned on the Fasten Your Seatbelt sign, as we're coming in for a landing.  And as 2011 makes its way down the runway, we have year-end business to attend to, starting with this week as John and El'Ahrai tell you the Top Five Things They Missed This Year.  But wait, there's more!  We also have an interview with "Christina" writer/director Larry Brand!  Plus!  Reviews of "Young Adult" and "Catch .44"!  Whenever we're about to do something truly horrible, we always say that the French have been doing it for years.

O cruel WABAC machine!  Your special brand of tough love lands us in 1978 this week, amongst the "Up in Smoke"s and "Grease"s of this world, but El'Ahrai and John still manage to find some gems.  But wait, there's more!  We also have an interview with "Christina" actor Jordan Belfi!  Plus!  Reviews of "My Week With Marilyn" and "Tokyo Drifter"!  The likelihood of one individual being right increases in direct proportion to the intensity with which others are trying to prove him wrong.

When a director makes an artistic misstep, forgiveness is not always guaranteed. However, there are directors working who have, through their previous works, earned a "Get Out of Jail Free" card. This week, John and El'Ahrai list their Top 5 Directors Who Have Earned a Lifetime Pass...And One Who's Lost It. But wait, there's more! We also have an interview with "Spy Kids" actress Alexa Vega! Plus! Reviews of "Shame" and "Michael Feinstein: The Sinatra Legacy"! Any of your nonsense and we're gonna have tiny little drumsticks on the menu tonight.

Part of the point of this whole exercise is to convince people to see (or not see) films John and El'Ahrai think listeners would enjoy.  (The other parts are to induce laughter--whether "with" or "at"--and to spread the Gospel of RoboCop across the land.)  As an example of this effort, this week they give each other their Top 5 Movies They Need To See.  But wait, there's more!  We also have interviews with actor David McNaughton and author Victoria Price!  Plus!  Reviews of "The Big Year" and "The Island of Lost Souls"!  Ben, you're boring me. Film is, at its heart, a collaborative medium.  As a result of this, for every name we see ten feet high in lights, there are important people who maybe don't get the recognition they deserve.  This week, John and El'Ahrai attempt to redress these oversights by providing their Top Five Unsung Heroes of Film!  But wait, there's more!  We also have an exclusive interview with Geefwee Boedoe, creator of the Oscar-nominated Animated Short "Let's Pollute"!  Plus!  Reviews of "Cedar Rapids" and "The Walking Dead: Season One"!  Creation myths need a Devil.

Even great directors have a miss now and then, and sometimes a director strings a couple of bombs in a row and has to spend some time away.  The best, though, come back with something geniuinely interesting (unlike this writeup--sorry).  This week, El'Ahrai and John discuss their Top Five Comeback Directors!  Plus!  Reviews of "The Illusionist" and "Sweet Smell of Success"!  Well, it didn't look like a two-horse town, but try finding a decent hair jelly.

It's a bicentennial trip in the WABAC this week, as John and El'Ahrai dodge tall ships on their way to the red, white, and blue year of 1976!  There's, like, disco and stuff, too.  Plus!  Reviews of "Biutiful" and "Dungeons & Dragons 2-pack"!  You're both paranoid.  She's afraid of John Mitchell, and you're afraid of Walter Cronkite.

A director's debut is a delicate thing.  It takes no small amount of skill, ambition, and artistry to get a film made in the first place; a very few, however, step onto the scene and immediately cover themselves in glory.  This week, El'Ahrai and John gome up with their Top Five Directorial Debuts.  Plus!  A review of "The Mechanic" and a knock-down, drag-out fight over "I Spit On Your Grave" that threatens the Harvey and Bob Show to its very foundation!  A few words here about following people.  People know they're being followed when they turn around and see someone following them.  They can't tell they're being followed if you get there first.

Once again, the Academy has released their list of nominees.  And once again, John and El'Ahrai have taken it upon themselves to correct the Academy's oversights.  Heavens, they're selfless, pushing so hard for "Born Sweet" in Best Documentary Short Subject.  Plus!  Reviews of "Rabbit Hole" and "Chain Letter"!  Why would a reviewer make the point of saying someone's *not* a genius?  Do you especially think I'm *not* a genius?  You didn't even have to think about it, did you?

Some songs, no matter the osetoaffective nature of their self-professed malignancy, have become overused crutches in film.  This week, El'Ahrai and John run down their lists of Five Overused Songs in Movies.  But that's not all!  We also have an exclusive interview with actress Dani Lennon!  Plus!  Reviews of "Blue Valentine" and "What's the Matter With Kansas?"!  Unfortunately, THIS guitar said, "When I get back to Georgia, that woman gonna feel my pain."  THIS one said something along the lines of, "Why yes, these pants ARE Lycra."  THESE said, "I'm very sensitive, very caring, and I have absolutely no idea how to play the guitar."

Like any art form, film can often push the audience's moral sensibilities.  However, in even the most hardened viewer, sometimes those sensibilities can be violated.  This week, John and El'Ahrai explore their Top Five Morally Contemptible Films!  C'mon, "The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland"!  Plus!  Reviews of "I Love You Phillip Morris" and "Shock Corridor"!  Hey!  What're you kicking me for?  You want me to ask?  All right, I'll ask!  Ma'am, where do the high school girls hang out in this town?

The future comes a-calling once more!  Having more or less disposed of 2010, this week El'Ahrai and John read the tea leaves of the new year and deliver their Top Five Most Anticipated Movies of 2011!  I swear, it's been sixteen years since they were this excited for a "Prom".  Plus!  Reviews of "How Do You Know" and "Robinson Crusoe on Mars"!  I have had people walk out on me before, but not...when I was being so charming.

SPECTACUGANZA! It's that time again--John and El'Ahrai reveal their lists of the Top 10 Movies of the Year!  Who will single out "Letters to Juliet" as the shining pinnacle of the year's filmic art?  The answer may surprise you.  Plus!  Reviews of "True Grit" and "Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale"!  I was watching the news one day and I saw footage about, uh, war, and I think it was in Darfur, or Rwanda, or Zimbabwe, or one of 'em, and I thought, "this isn't right, is it?"  And I made some phone calls and it turns out, it isn't.
